TVS Motors changed its whole image by launching Apache series in India. The product clicked when the company introduced TVS Apache RTR 160 in India. After the overwhelmed response of the customers.The last offering was TVS Apache RTR 180.Here, you would be eager to know about RTR. This is abbreviated form of Rapid Throttle Response. At the first look, TVS Apache series bikes looks very much same unlike colours. These bikes have same design and appearance. You can differentiate among these by going through the features and specifications. Let's check the appearance with describing major differences in these macho machines. TVS Apache RTR 160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi are very much. No difference in looking. The dashboard is in digital mode but tachometer comes in analogue format. The rest of the meters come in digital mode like speedometer, tripmeter, odometer and fuel gauge. Service reminder and low battery indicators are also attached in the instrument cluster. Apache RTR 160 sports digital blue backlit speedometer.

TVS Apache RTR 180 comes with white tachometer and the rest of the dashboard is retained with blue backlit speedometer. Clip on handlebars is another latest feature in the machine that is used to drive in various positions. The rear boasts LED tail lamps, re-styled silencer and Hero Honda CBZ X-treme type split grab bars.

The graphical work at these bikes make them altogether different. A bold and beautiful RTR sticker is pasted at airscoops of Apache RTR 180 that looks sporty and classic. This is not there in its predecessors. Though racing GT stripes on the bike come in all the variants. This racing GT stripes painted from front to the rear end. The rear view mirrors and rear grab rails are not painted in body colours while suspensions are coloured in gold colour. The engine fairing design shows the amount of detailing gone into its development plus add into aerodynamic design. It employs a forged brake lever and gear lever set which delivers great looks and also lighter in construction. It also comes with removable rear fender - a first in its class.

TVS Apache Colours

TVS Apache RTR series bikes come in pour sports colours that attract racers in a birds eye view. TVS Apache RTR 160 comes in blue and yellow hues while TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi is available in matt grey/black and orange. TVS used same kind of colour treatment for all the RTR series bikes. Generally, the body colour is painted on mask, front mudguard, fuel tank, air scoops, engine fairing and rear side panels. In the same way, rear grab rails and rear view mirrors never come in body colour. But yes black and grey body hues match with these parts.

TVS Apache RTR 180 comes in fine finish of colours. The sober colours are white, yellow, grey and pearl white. Body colour is painted at mask, front mud guard, fuel tank, air scoops, engine fairing and rear side panels. The rest of the parts of bike are having black treatment. But disc brakes and silencer heat shield are painted in silver shade while suspensions comes in golden colour.

TVS Apache Acceleration

TVS Apache RTR 160 is powered by 159.7cc engine and high-tech features are fitted in the machine. The 0-60 kmph sprint is achievable in just 4.81 seconds while it takes 17.70 seconds to reach 0-100 kmph. The top speed of the bike is 120 kmph. These figures changed marginally in the fuel injected version of Apache.

On the other hand, TVS Apache RTR 180 is the big boss of these siblings. This menace can touch 0-60 timing in just 4.15 seconds. Nevertheless, the mileage goes down as compared to its predecessors. The maximum speed of the machine is 125 kmph. The over square engine does its duty very well and increase the power and acceleration data. You can check the top speed achieved by you with a handy feature on dashboard. 0-60 timing can also be checked on the digital display.

TVS Apache Brakes

TVS Apache RTR 160 (refresh) sports front 270mm disc brakes and rear drum brake. Whereas a variant with rear disc brakes is also available. You need to pay some more money for that. On the other hand, TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi already equipped with both side disc brakes in petal shape. The front one is 270mm disc and 200 mm rear disc brake.

TVS Apache RTR 180 employs roto petal disc brakes at both end. The front wheel sports 270mm disc and 200mm rear roto disc brake. These kind of advanced braking system work without any mistake and halts the bike instantly. The reason is the speed of dissipating the heat. The beast also housed forged brake lever that works in smooth way and proves the bike sporty.

TVS Apache Fuel Efficiency

TVS Apache RTR 160 gives a standard mileage of 45 to 50 kmpl while the fuel injected version of the bike gives around 53 to 55 kmpl in city. This is because of fuel injection technology. The fuel is used in a better and economical way.

If you talk about the big brother of Apache series, it gives around 45 kmpl. The mileage is reduced due to high engine power. All the Apache series bikes is provided with same capacity fuel tank that is 16 litre with 2.5 liters of reserve.
